About the work

Who will the specialist work with? You will be working with an existing multidisciplinary team. -
What will the specialist do? The user researcher will work in a multidisciplinary team to ensure the identification and prioritisation of the work that benefits users. They will be responsible for building an understanding of the service’s users and their behaviour, and providing insights to the team about how users interact with the service. They take the lead on running sessions with real users, and communicating findings back to the whole team, creating actionable insights to guide design. The user researcher will have extensive experience working in Agile and, ideally, experience with the Commonwealth Digital Service Standard. -

What are the working arrangements? Working onsite full time, 5 days per week. Possible travel for contextual user research. -

Essential skills and experience -
- Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years experience in User Research
- Create design hypotheses to improve the service and work with team members to run design experiments
- Identify user needs and ensure that your team understands them and keeps user needs at front of mind when making product and prioritisation decisions.
- Have previous experience in agile and work at pace as part of an agile multi-disciplined team

Nice-to-have skills and experience -
Knowledge of the methodology used by the DTA, familiarity with the research and design community within DTA and the APS.
