What will the specialist do?

The Scientific Computing Services section within Data and Digital Group's IT-Operate Branch at the Bureau of Meteorology seeks multiple experienced HPC Systems Administrator's to provide administration and operational support for the High Performance Computing (HPC) systems and services. The positions will be members of a team whose activities include the management of high performance systems in computing, data storage and networks to support and sustain 24x7 production.

What are the working arrangements?

"This is a Monday to Friday role, working a standard APS day.

There maybe a requirement to be added to the on-call roster.

This is primarily a job that requires you to be onsite, although requests to work remotely on a as need basis will be considered.

Essential skills and experience
  • Assist with the operation of the HPC systems and network interconnects, system services, operating system software runtime environment to ensure the service levels in performance and availability are met
  • Proactively identify and prevent potential problems
  • Be available to provide on-call support, as required.
  • Contribute to the operation of the High Performance Data (HPD) systems and network interconnections, file and data services software and runtime environments to ensure the service levels in performance and availability are met
  • Contribute to the operation of software runtime services and application development environment, user environment and support of Bureau recognised
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Work with Bureau infrastructure staff, contractors and their support staff and scientific computing partners to perform daily work functions and tasks, change management and project planning meetings.
  • Participate in the development of policies, processes and service agreements governing the support of this mission critical environment for the Bureau and specific stakeholders.
  • Comply with the APS Code of Conduct, adhere to the APS Values and ensure that the Bureau’s Social Justice Strategy is applied in the work area.
  • Comply with Bureau OHS initiatives, ensuring you comply with Bureau OHS procedures and keep your own state of knowledge current in line with the industry state of knowledge for your role.
